3 Wheeled Buggies
A 3-wheeler can be used for off-road walks and to tackle terrain from bumpy pavements or tracks in woodlands. They are also easier to manoeuvre up and down kerbs than models with four wheels.
Kath, the editor of MadeForMums reviews, tried one of these three-wheelers on tarmac and on a variety of terrains. You can read her full review here.
Stability

Four-wheel buggies, which have their center of gravity being balanced by your child's weight in the seat, are typically more stable than three-wheelers. Three-wheel buggies are worthwhile to consider as they are able to handle anything from rough terrain to busy streets.
For a buggy that's really easy to control and will not be a problem on bumpy roads, look for one with big rear wheels and a lockable front wheel. These buggies for all-terrain use also have pneumatic tires that are ideal for handling unpaved surfaces. They can be used even on sandy beaches and tracks through woodlands.
They're also excellent buggies to run with because they provide great stability in rough terrain and can help you stay with your running companion. They are also great for climbing and descending steep kerbs too and a majority have a built-in suspension which means your child will have a pleasant ride.
One factor that makes a 3-wheeled pushchair difficult to maneuver is the broad frame, which makes it more difficult to maneuver into narrow spaces and tight doors than a 4-wheeler. Some manufacturers have solved this issue with an innovative design that turns the wheels upside down when they are not in use. This reduces their dimensions and makes it easier to fit through doorways.
If yes, look for a lie-flat position and if the design is compatible with second seating and buggy boards (if you want to add a toddler onboard). Find out if the buggy comes with the ability to lie flat, and if it's compatible with second seat and buggy boards, if you are planning to take your toddler along. Many 3-wheelers can fold flat, and then be stacked upright. This is great when you have an unwieldy boot space or have limited storage at home. However, some require you to take out the front wheel prior to folding if you want it to fit into smaller space.
Manoeuvrability
Three-wheeled buggies are more movable than strollers with four wheels. They often have a swivelling front wheel that lets you change direction quickly and steer with only one hand. Certain models come with a lockable wheel that can offer stability on rough terrain. Some models can be used with a second seat or buggy board if you're looking to expand your family.
If you are planning to remove your three-wheeled buggies from the paved roads, you should choose a model with pneumatic tyres. They are able to handle the most difficult terrain. These tyres will need periodic pumping, but will be far more durable than tyres that are solid and are more likely to be puncture-proof. You should choose a model that has an adjustable front wheel that can be locked to assist you in navigating difficult terrains.
Having a single front wheel may also indicate that three-wheelers can be heavier than buggies with four wheels when folded. Check that the model you choose fits in your car's boot and can be set up upright if needed. Some models are able to fold in one hand, and they're freestanding when they're collapsed, which can make them more compact in boot spaces that are smaller.
A well-constructed three-wheeled pushchair can handle most terrains from busy streets to forest tracks. But it's important to consider the purpose you'll use it for in the daytime. If you'll be doing the school run, it must be able to cope with steep slopes and kerbs. If you'll be jogging with it, check that it has an adjustable lockable swivelling'stretch' for the front wheel to keep the ride safe.
MFM reviewer Kath discovered her three-wheeled buggy able to cope really well with rural and urban walks. Kath said it was able to negotiate rocky paths, cobbles, and bumpy pavements effortlessly and was comfortable while running. It's also a great option for day trips, as it offers plenty of storage space, including a large, spacious basket with zip-top cover and an expandable 50+ UV hood. It can be modified to meet the needs of babies from birth, including a carry cot or lying-flat seats. It's also compatible with the most well-known second seats and stroller boards.
Fabric Sling Seat
The main difference between a fabric sling and modular seats is that the fabric sling is placed snugly inside the buggy frame rather than being positioned on top as a modular seat would. This enables a much more ergonomically-correct posture for the baby, which instantly delivers a lower centre of gravity and a more appropriate height. This leads to a smoother push, a less hefty curb-pop (you don't have to exert the same effort and weight to lift the buggy off the curb) and more stability and balance.
The sling fabrics used in these types of seats are extremely durable and easy to clean. These fabrics were developed specifically for sling chairs and are extremely UV-resistant and breathable. These fabrics are also very easy to maintain using mild soap and warm water.
If you're a jogger, or enjoy a bit of off-roading, a all terrain 3 wheeler is likely to be more suitable than a 4-wheeler. These models are generally larger, more stable base and utilise air filled tyres for agile smooth movement on rough ground.
A brand best known for its car seats, Maxi-Cosi has recently added an all-new 3-wheeler to its range with the Stella. The all-terrain buggy has an enormous huge and spacious travel system seat unit that can be a world-facing or parent face and reclines flat using an upgraded 5-point safety harness. It can be used from birth using a car seat or carrycot and comes with a generously large shopping basket, hood with zip pockets, and a convenient one-hand fold.
This luxurious 3 wheeler made for the most discerning buggy owner is as gorgeous to see as it is to operate. three wheel pushchair is finished in an eye-catching pewter black with touches of silver-burnished aluminium all over making it a complete wow factor. A large, padded seat that can be used as world or parent facing with an improved 5-point safety harness, as well as an entire set of rain covers make this a great option for parents who are active.
Modular Seat
Modular seating offers many different configurations to suit different seating requirements. It doesn't matter if it's a comfortable setup for watching movies or a larger configuration for entertaining guests, modular seating can be adjusted easily. Many modular seating systems have removable cushions which makes it easy to clean spills or stain.
Modular Seating can be designed to blend in with the existing decor or be a standout as an accent piece. You can choose from a wide variety of fabrics, colors, and shapes to create a modular seating that suits your personal style. Various functional features are also available in modular seating, such as hidden storage compartments that allow easy organization and decluttering of living spaces.
3-wheel buggies offer more stability than strollers with four wheels, making them ideal for off-road and all terrain adventures. The large, highly maneuverable front wheel allows for smooth and agile movement. The tyres, which are usually air-filled and come with suspension, give you a great ride on the most difficult roads and trails. They are also ideal for walking up hills since the wheels aren't as close to ground as they are on four wheel pushchairs.
Often 3-wheel prams are a favorite for parents who love running and jogging with their child because they offer superior agility and are more streamlined than their 4 wheel counterparts. The GB Upp XL, for example, has an elegant burnished aluminum frame with a quick one-handed fold, forward-facing and rear-facing seats. The Babyzen Yoyo, on the other hand, comes with black frames with a carrycot that can be set in a full lie-flat position, and has tyres that are air-filled.
Mountain Buggy Sport verso is another great all-terrain option. It's extremely lightweight and highly maneuverable. It's also incredibly fashionable. This buggy will last you from birth, with a carrycot included, to toddlerhood with the adjustable seat. All this is within the footprint of just one buggy.
The most recent model, duet(tm), is a side-by-side vehicle that's small enough for urban living yet with a lot of innovation and control.
